The book is chock full of full-color images of posters designed to aid in the fight against gentrificationThe Figueroa Corridor Coalition for Economic Justice was formed as a community response to the planned gentrification of the Figueroa corridor and its effects on the community.In 2001 the Coalition negotiated the nation's largest Community Benefits Agreement with a development company owned by billionaires Rupert Murdoch and Philip Anschutz. The negotiation included 30 community organizations, five unions,and more than 300 local residents.We Shall Not Be Moved is a collaborative effort by three Los Angeles-based organizations—Strategic Actions for a Just Economy, the Center for the Study of Political Graphics and Self-Help Graphics and Art. By joining forces, the unique strengths, skills and resources of each group were integrated with the others.
